Pierre Arronax, who is a famous French scientist, is sent to Nebraska to take part in a scientific expedition with his servant, Conseil. Conseil is a serious and loyal person and always helps Arronax.
After the expedition, the cases that ships were attacked and destroyed by a strange object happen frequently.
Arronax and Conseil are in New York then, and asked to join the expedition to investigate the cases.
During the expedition, Arronax, conseil and Ned Land, who is the crew of the expedition ship, meet the strange object. However, it is not a creature, and they are involved new adventure...
There are some complex structures in this book, but I really enjoyed this book. I will recommend this book if you would like to study English by reading.
